Castle wedding cake topper of hand blown glass will top off your fairy tale wedding in brilliant crystal. Artist is Kevin Prochaska, Disneyland glass blower for 10 years.
Having made more than 10,000 castles during my tenure at the Magic Kingdom, I think it is fair to say that I have ample experience in the design and creation of these special toppers. Using a technique known as lacework, I form hundreds of tiny loops out of molten glass to create the body of the castle. The shape, thickness, and degree of uniformity of each individual stitch determine how much sparkle the lacework reflects. Much of the time I spent during my early years at Disneyland was spent refining my lacework to maximize its brilliance. The crystal braids that support the drawbridge add to the radiance of the design. I use clear solid glass to form the turrets and add contrast to the lacework. Castle measures approximately 9 inches tall and 4 inches wide, making it an ideal size for almost any wedding cake. Sculpture is very well balanced and because it is made from borosilicate crystal it weighs less than 16 oz.
